SWS Market Update - March 8, 2022


U.S. stocks dropped on Tuesday after the U.S. announced they would place a ban on Russian oil. The S&P 500 fell by 0.72% to close at 4170.70. The Dow Jones Industrial Average entered into a correction on Monday, lowered another 0.56% to close at 32632.64 today. The Nasdaq Composite went down 0.28% to close at 12795.55.


Economic Reports

NFIB small-business index fell from 97.1 to 95.7 in February.


Foreign trade deficit increased from -$82.0 billion to -$89.7 billion in January.


Wholesale inventories remained flat at 0.8% in January.


Markets

The SP 500 is down by 0.72% to close at 4170.70. The index is down 3.15% over five days, down 7.76% over one month, down 11.01% over three months and up 7.62% over one year.

The trailing P/E is 24.21 compared to 45.02 one year ago and estimated future P/E 19.25. Dividend yield is currently 1.42 compared with 1.49 one year ago.

Leading stocks were ENPH up 10.82%, SEDG up 10.41%, PWR up 8.17%, VLO up 7.77% and SLB up 7.08%.

Trailing stocks were STX down 9.51%, CAG down 8.22%, ISRG down 7.98%, BRO down 7.70% and CPB down 7.07%.


The Dow Jones Industrial Average went down 0.56% to close at 32632.64. The DOW is down 1.99% over five days, down 7.98% over one month, down 8.64% over three months and up 2.51% over one year.

The trailing P/E is 18.12 compared with 32.39 year ago and an estimated future P/E of 17.63. The current dividend yield is 2.15% compared with 1.86 one year ago.
