SWS Market Update - March 7, 2022


A rough day for the US stock indexes on Monday with the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropping 2.37% to close in a correction at 32817.38. Rising oil prices combined with the Russian invasion of Ukraine as well as inflation causing major concerns for investors. The S&P 500 fell 2.95% on Monday, closing at 4201.08. This is its largest single day drop since October 2020. The Nasdaq Composite slid down by 3.62% to close at 12830.96.

The SP 500 is down by 2.95% to close at 4201.08. The index is down 3.95% over five days, down 6.31% over one month, down 8.51% over three months and up 9.94% over one year.

The trailing P/E is 24.21 compared to 45.02 one year ago and estimated future P/E 19.25. Dividend yield is currently 1.42 compared with 1.49 one year ago.

Leading stocks were SLB up 8.12%, HAL up 6.15%, CF up 4.87%, NEE up 4.81% and NEM up 4.78%.

Trailing stocks were PVH down 15.35%, UAL down 15.01%, FTNT down 13.14%, DAL down 12.80% and LYV down 12.31%.
