SWS Market Update - March 9, 2022


U.S. stocks rebounded on Wednesday with the S&P 500 having its biggest one-day percentage gain since 2020, gaining 2.57% and closing at 4277.89. The Nasdaq Composite went up 3.59% to close at 13255.55 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average went up 2.00% to close at 33286.25.


Economic Reports

Job openings saw a slight drop in January going from 11.5 million to 11.3 million.


Quits report for January was 4.3 million, compared with 4.4 million the month before.


Markets

The SP 500 is up by 2.57% to close at 4277.89. The index is down 2.48% over five days, down 6.74% over one month, down 9.00% over three months and up 9.72% over one year.

The trailing P/E is 24.21 compared to 45.02 one year ago and estimated future P/E 19.25. Dividend yield is currently 1.42 compared with 1.49 one year ago.

Leading stocks were MTCH up 12.81%, TPR up 10.64%, CZR up 10.46%, MRNA up 10.22% and CCL up 8.75%.

Trailing stocks were PSX down 5.89%, XOM down 5.68%, SLB down 5.57%, HAL down 5.25% and VLO down 3.76%.
