SWS Market Update - April 4, 2022


U.S. stocks closed higher on Monday after investors bought up some technology stocks. Twitter shares jumped up 27.02% after Tesla Executive Elon Musk disclosed that he holds a 9.2% stake in the company as of mid-March. The Nasdaq Composite gained 1.90% and closed at 14532.55. The Dow Jones Industrial Average went up 0.30% to close at 34921.88 and the S&P 500 climbed 0.81% to close at 4582.64.


Economic Reports

Factory orders went down in February from 1.5% to -0.5%.


Core capital equipment orders (revision) saw a slight drop from -0.3% to -0.2% in February.

The SP 500 is up by 0.81% to close at 4582.64. The index is up 0.16% over five days, up 9.08% over one month, down 4.46% over three months and up 12.38% over one year.

The trailing P/E is 25.57 compared to 45.45 one year ago and estimated future P/E 20.11. Dividend yield is currently 1.38 compared with 1.45 one year ago.
