SWS Daily Market Update - October 22, 2021


The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended the week at a record high gaining 0.21% to close at 35677.02 on Friday. The index has experienced three consecutive weeks of gains.

In contrast, the S&P 500 dropped 0.11% to close at 4544.90 on Friday and the Nasdaq composite was also down 0.82% to close at 15090.20.

Overall, all three major indexes closed the week with gains: S&P 500 was up 1.6% this week, the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 1.1% and the Nasdaq Composite increased 1.3%.

The SP 500 is down by 0.11% to close at 4544.90. The index is up 1.64% over five days, up 2.01% over one month, up 3.02% over three months and up 31.15% over one year.

The trailing P/E is 30.45 compared to 38.25 one year ago and estimated future P/E 22.17. Dividend yield is currently 1.32 compared with 1.73 one year ago.

Leading stocks were SIVB up 6.80%, STX up 6.07%, EBAY up 5.75%, AXP up 5.41% and EFX up 5.01%.

Trailing stocks were INTL down 11.68%, FB down 5.05%, TWTR down 4.83%, VFC down 4.50% and ALK down 4.25%.
