Initial jobless claims came in at the lowest level since the start of the pandemic at 290,000 compared with an anticipated 300,000 and down from 296,000 the previous week.
Continuing jobless claims from the week ending October 9 were at 2.48 million compared with 2.60 million previously.
Existing home sales increased from 5.88 million in August to 6.29 million in September which is higher than was estimated (6.10 million).
The Leading economic indicators dropped in September to 0.2% from 0.8% in August. Economists had projected 0.4% for September.
