SWS Daily Market Update - November 5, 2021


The major U.S. stock indexes closed on Friday at new record highs. The SP 500 rose 0.37% to close at 4697.53, the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 0.56% to close at 36327.95, and the Nasdaq Composite went up by 0.20% to close at 15971.59.


The U.S. economy added 531,000 jobs in October, significantly higher than the previous rate of 312,000, and higher than was than economists had forecasted at 450k.


The U.S. Unemployment rate for October came in slightly lower than September (4.8%) at 4.6%.

The Average hourly earnings were reported at 0.4% for October.


Consumer credit climbed to $29 billion in September compared to $16 billion estimated and compared with $14 billion the previous month.


Markets

The SP 500 is up by 0.37% to close at 4697.53. The index is up 2.00% over five days, up 6.97% over one month, up 5.88% over three months and up 33.85% over one year.

The trailing P/E is 29.05 compared to 39.81 one year ago and estimated future P/E 22.45. Dividend yield is currently 1.27 compared with 1.74 one year ago.

Leading stocks were up EXPE 15.63%, LYV up 15.14%, PFE up 10.86%, RCL up 8.95% and CCL up 8.35%.

Trailing stocks were MRNA down 16.56%, MRK down 9.86%, BIO down 7.36%, WST down 6.76% and CTXS down 11.10%.


The Dow Jones industrial Average is up by 0.56% to close at 36327.95. The DOW is up 1.42% over five days, up 4.55% over one month, up 3.18% over three months and up 28.26% over one year.

The trailing P/E is 22.65 compared with 28.15 year ago and an estimated future P/E of 18.89. The current dividend yield is 1.87% compared with 2.18 one year ago.
