SWS Daily Market Update - November 18, 2021


The S&P 500 had its 66th record close of the year moving up 0.34% to close at 4704.54. The Nasdaq Composite hit an all-time high on Thursday climbing 0.45% to close at 15993.71. The Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 0.17% to 35870.95.


The Labor Department reported that initial jobless claims dipped down to 268,000 claims for the week ending November 13, slightly lower than 269,000 the previous week.


Continuing jobless claims dropped to a pandemic low for the week ending November 6 from 2.20 million to 2.08 million.


Philadelphia Fed manufacturing index increased in November to 39.0, much higher than economists had estimated at 23.0.


Leading economic indicators climbed in October from 0.1% to 0.9%.


Markets

The SP 500 is up by 0.34% to close at 4704.54. The index is up 1.19% over five days, up 3.40% over one month, up 6.78% over three months and up 31.34% over one year.

The trailing P/E is 28.90 compared to 40.37 one year ago and estimated future P/E 22.43. Dividend yield is currently 1.28 compared with 1.70 one year ago.

Leading stocks were NVDA up 8.25%, BBWI up 5.31%, GPS up 4.42%, AMZN up 4.14% and MRNA up 3.79%.

Trailing stocks were CSCO down 5.51%, WYNN down 4.76%, CZR down 4.58%, PENN down 4.40% and MKTX down 4.18%.


The Dow Jones industrial Average is down by 0.17% to close at 35870.95. The DOW is down 0.14% over five days, up 0.75% over one month, up 2.80% over three months and up 21.67% over one year.

The trailing P/E is 22.31 compared with 29.23 year ago and an estimated future P/E of 18.53. The current dividend yield is 1.92% compared with 2.06 one year ago.
